I feel both B and C correct.

I think you like (B) because you want to try to show that the sample is unrepresentative. I like that impulse a lot!
However, (B) doesn't do that effectively: imagine that (B) is true, and 100% of people in long-term treatment responded, compared to 99% of people in shorter-term treatment. That wouldn't hurt our argument at all!
To do the work (that I think that) you want it to do, (B) would have to say more. Like, even "were far more likely" would probably work; note how such language would make my scenario above impossible.
Clearer?
