Isn't the idea that [more caffeine = more production] an assumption? That's why I got rid of A.
I ended up picking B even though I hated "stomach function" because I thought that [more caffeine = more production] was unwarranted given the language of the stimulus.

The caffeine-acid production relationship isn't an assumption here, because it's stated as a premise in the first sentence.
(Maybe you're questioning whether the fact that caffeine stimulates production means that more caffeine leads to more acid production. If that's the question, I take your point. This could be one of the instances where the test fails to be fully deductively logical)
You were right to hate "stomach function"—we just don't need to know that the stomach does (or doesn't) work well; only that it would be less irritated.
