We want to prove that Diplodocus did feed on underwater vegetation. We do not need to assume that Diplodocus could not do so!

I thought the argument said it couldn’t eat BECAUSE of it’s neck movement; not that it couldn’t eat at all. where did the argument said it couldn’t eat those leaves at all?

Yeah, the argument says only that Diplodocus could not reach the high leaves by using its neck. Then it assumes, without any evidence, that it could not reach those leaves in any other way.
That the argument did not say Diplodocus couldn't eat those high leaves is the point of the question: the argument has simply assumed this key piece of evidence, rather than enter it into the argument.
Make sense?
