But even if we assume that it has been passed from generation to generation, the last holder might have died without any descendants so it might end up in the tomb. This thinking stopped me from taking (B). Could you please explain where am I wrong?

We have not been asked—here nor in any weaken question—to disprove the conclusion. We've been asked to make it less likely. (B) does that. It doesn't even ask us to assume that all objects are passed in such a way; in other words, it makes no pretense of proof. It does, however, cast doubt on the conclusion of the argument. That's what we were asked for, and that's why it's correct.
