I flip-flopped back and forth between B and D, and fell for D, and I still don't see what's wrong with it. The computer was used as part of the importer's business and she was being investigated for a crime.
What am I missing here?

It sounds as though you've confused the "only if" of the first sentence with an "if". Instances like this one really demonstrate the utility of your conditional symbolization.
The fact that the computer was used does not provide justification for a search, any more than being male demonstrates that a person plays in the NBA.
In other words, necessary conditions are not sufficient for proof!

why not D?
Because it did not talk about "without the owner's authorization"?
