Thank you I went back and rewatched theory videos today because I was getting things mixed up yesterday... it is much clearer now.

I would like to know the flaw type of this question, if there is one. Is it prescriptive?
I find it hard to determine a flaw type when the argument lacks a part of its logical chain, most of the time the premise.

This reminds me of a Bait and Switch or an Ascriptive error—the author presents this supposedly confounding evidence that just has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Why on earth are we talking about subjects' reports? WHAT HAS THAT GOT TO DO WITH ANYTHING?
See how it's sort of bait and switchy? And similar to an ascription (except we're given a definition in place of a claim from some dumb people)?

Can you explain why answer choice D would be wrong?

We need something that will prove that studies can NOT reliably determine causes.
(D) gives us a condition that would prove when studies CAN reliably determine causes.
