I said depict - world view and realistic photo - reality.
I've watched the theories, but it seems like i still can't super summarize the sentence like you do. Any suggestions? what are you looking for in these sentences and what am i doing wrong to get that cluttered structure?

1. Leave out subordinate clauses. Your goal is to uncover structure, not to identify modifiers.
2. Ask yourself what the author believes and why she believes that.
3. Follow my example (notice that I—implicitly, if not explicitly—do the two things above!)

How do you identify the subordinate clauses? What are modifiers and why should we not focus on them?

Here's some seemingly pretty good info on subordinate clauses.
Modifiers are adjectives and adverbs. Unless they provide load-bearing language (e.g., by saying that all sea monsters are green), they do not add to our understanding of the argument's structure.
