these assumption questions that denote "conclusion properly drawn," are we to consider them necessary assumption questions after all despite having "if assumed" within them? my natural assumption is to look for big proving answers obviously, so the "some" typical of required assumptions threw me off...

Yeah, the small language is unusual for proving anything!
But this is a sufficient assumption question. Notice that it follows our rule of proving the conclusion: if money is universal, and there is even just one society that didn't learn it from some other society, then at least in that society, the idea of money must have occurred independently!
