Could you break this one down a bit.
Is "contradictory ideas" same as "the meaning of a poem"? I think this is the gap.
p1. readers believe that poems have contradictory ideas
p2. authors don't intend to express contradictory ideas
con. authors don't intend contradictory ideas??
Is the answer saying that whatever the reader thinks of the poem is part of the poem, therefore, no poet communicates contradictory ideas because the reader is always right?


Hm. I'm having a hard time seeing how (C) could even relate to this argument. Maybe it'd help if you tell me what you found attractive about it.
Meanwhile, the argument has concluded that a poem's meaning CANNOT be the author's intended communication, because no author would intend contradiction, but some readers find contradiction.
This assumes that readers only find contradiction when authors put it there for them to find!
