I saw the word intermediary conclusion in answer D and jumped to it.
So why is D wrong? Are we saying that "because insects' resistance to insecticides increases with insecticide use" is not a conclusion that is support by the claim?

"I saw the word intermediary conclusion in answer D and jumped to it." There's the problem. (D) doesn't say that the sentence is an intermediary conclusion (which it is); it says that it's evidence.
It's perfectly acceptable—commendable, even!—to jump right to an examination of (D) on the grounds you've named. But you also do have to read the answer choice before choosing it (for reasons like the one on offer here).
(B) correctly identifies it as the intermediate (or subsidiary) conclusion that it is.

Thank you for taking the time to explain the exact aspect of this question that i was getting hung up on in an honest & real way- it just is what it is with this one
