Man 25 was tricky since Mackay was arguing against the speculative buble.
Why is it not (D) for 27? Because of Line 3 where the fundamentals were described, I thought that the standard pricing pattern is the fundamental, so it is something that goes against a criterion.
Could the purpose of this passage be to advocate as well? Line 41 I used as my thesis and concluded from line 56 that Garber was right and Mackay's view of the tulip bulb prices did not indicate a speculative bubble.
I see what you're saying, and I do think there's some evidence to suggest that the author agrees with Garber, but there's less of that sort of evidence here than I would expect from a clearly advocative passage. So this passage almost straddles all three main purposes: To illuminate the Mackay/Garber rift; to evaluate that rift; and to (subtly) advocate for Garber's view. That's fun!
