hi dave i got this question right because i thought this was a false choice, in that there could've been another reason why T could have been suspended. i understand how this was a S v N flaw but why was C wrong? i'm guessing that the arguments assumption ( that T had to have been late) is not enough to to prove conclusion ?

1. False Choice is a great lens to view this argument through!
2. I'd say (C) is wrong because it's iimpossible for us to know what the author has taken for granted (assumed) about the assumptions she's made. I mean, we can absolutely know what evidence she must assume in order for her argument to work, but we can't know what she assumed about her own assumptions. Maybe she didn't assume anything at all about her own assumptions, because she didn't even realize she was assuming things!
I cannot see how (C), as written, could ever be correct. However, if (C) had instead said "takes for granted that a condition sufficient to establish the argument's conclusion is necessary to establish that conclusion," then it would correctly state the flaw.
Is that clearer?
