Hi Dave,
I also think choice C weakens the asserted causal link, by showing the effect w/o the cause.
I don't understand why the suggestion of reverse cause (A) is stronger.

That might be an effective way to weaken an argument claiming that parties are the only way to boost profits. But this argument didn't claim that; it just says that parties do lead to profits. (C) doesn't tell me that parties aren't the cause for those other companies' boosts in sales; it only tells me that parties aren't the only way to boost sales.
