Loved this one! I applied SPAM and made sure to circle load bearing language and especially underlining attitude made this one particularly easy and smooth. Just had to look at the underlined parts and got my answers. I got every single question right without a doubt!

In line 37, (what is needed is a method that enables the “critic” to discern and make use of meanings,) I’m not sure why this sentence is same with “We need literary criticism in order to let “us” understand and make use of meanings.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question. Are you asking in relation to a particular question, or are you asking what line 37 means?

In the video, around 1:45 ~ 1:50. you explained about line 37~40 that “We need literary criticism in order to let us understand and make use of meanings created in encounters between texts and readers.”
I am curious that why did you explain we should understand rather than critic should understand.

Ah. I'm using "us" colloquially as the audience for the passage. Here, the author is writing to critics, so as the audience, "we" are critics.
