So ideally we want to see answers that says it was the children 4 times, but if it was the cat, that is fine too as long as we have an explanation? Is that the thinking behind it?
Therefore E is right because E doesn't tell us anything about who it was.

No. We want answers that either say it was kids or else (like C) that it was not the cat.
You're totally correct about (E).

I narrow down to A and E, then chose A instead of E.
The reason is that the argument told that his cat is in the house (free run of his house) and the back door is closed, so there is a high possibility to conclude that "the cats did it", but not by kids.
ON the other hand, E does not give us anything.
So I chose A...
what wrong with me?

WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE. It sucks.
This is why I deal with Except questions the way I do; it's just too easy to make the mistake you made here.
Chin up. You're not alone!

I do not understand...
F's hypothesis is that kids did it.
A tells that cats did it, not supporting the hypothesis, actually against the hypothesis.
what wrong with me?

Wait. What about (A) makes you think it was a cat?

because the cat is in the house (free run of his house) and the back door is closed, so kids can not enter the house and the cat is inside of the house. So My hypothesis is that the cat does it...
I should not hypothesize???

(A) says they saw the door open (it had to have been open for them to watch it close). No way the cat closed the door; if the neighbors saw the door closing, then some person must've been going in.

Now, I completely understand it.
Thank you very much for your endurance, Dave!
