"A" had me thinking for too long. Am I over thinking it? Or what am I doing?
Concluding that two things (ordering of one dish, over another dish) that occur at the same time (during the order) have a common cause (the preference of patrons).

Well, first it is stretching the definition of "two things" far past the breaking point to contend that ordering brown rice is doing two things. Placing an order is doing one thing.
It may help to consider what (A) would look like. Here are two examples:
I started having terrible gas and also bad breath last Tuesday. That's the same day I bought my new Pontiac™. I must therefore insist that you never buy a Pontiac™ if you want to have normal bowel function and avoid halitosis.
In the Pleistocene, large mammals began going extinct at the same time that the atmosphere was thickening appreciably. Both events were likely caused by the massive quantities of methane expelled by the development of the Earth's crust along significant fault lines as major landmasses began to shift. After all, large mammals depend on a relatively low level of methane for a breathable atmosphere, and methane is denser than either nitrogen or oxygen.
See how those are different from this question? They are what (A) is describing.

Thanks, makes sense, two things are two things not one thing and the lack of it.

This question struck me funny (and just HTS) because being WFPB and not eating dairy cheese, I would have chosen the other two dishes presumably they are dairy free, but at other places potatoes are my main staple. It's nice when personal experience helps to answer the correct answer AND zucchini casserole with mushrooms sounds great, HA!
Thank you once again for the excellent explanation!
