Hi Dave! How do I tackle this question quickly? I spent a lot of time plotting all the statements, and then I ended up choosing B (sad times) rather than A. What is the best way to not get overwhelmed by a question like this? Do we ignore the "some"s and "few"s? Thank you :))

I get why A is correct, but I don't understand why B isn't also correct? It's taken directly from the passage. Also, in your equation, how does Most + Most equal Some? I'm also just trying to make inference math quicker in my head. Thanks!

(B) certainly could be true, but it is not necessarily true.
Put some numbers to it and you'll see why:
Say 100 people invest. Most of them don't do any research. Let's say that's 60 people. Now imagine that 20 of them rely on their broker, 20 of them base decisions on hunches, and 20 of them... I don't know, roll dice to determine their choices.
That comports with everything we know from the passage, so it might be true. And if it is, then only 40% of people rely solely on their broker or hunches. Not most people. So (B) might be, but then again might not be true.
Here's more info on inference math.

(C) might be true, but there's nothing in this passage that proves that it is.
It's entirely possible that the people who research and rely on advice are in the minority of people who do not make a profit.
Since we can't prove (C) is true, it's not the right answer.
