Why is D wrong? If Trent assumes that dust did not cool the earth then it proves that the crater is not large enough.

Part of his argument does rest on his stated premise that there was insufficient dust to kill the dinosaurs, but he doesn't need to assume that the dust wouldn't have any cooling effect.

I chose C since I thought it was a casual flaw... he states that the asteroid is not large enough and extinction took many years therefore there may be some other cause... Can you explain why it would be incorrect?

Remember your language cues—they help! Here, Trent doesn't have to assume that any event has different causes. He's only arguing about one event, after all.
