Can you explain why it wouldn't be C for this one as well?

(C) is out because Josh doesn't make any claim about which words (if any) are meaningful. He only claims that those few words under discussion are meaningless. So while it's possible that he believes (C), we don't know that he does (in the same sort of way that he might believe (E)).
Make sense?

Hi Dave! In the way that answer choice A and E both have strong word language like "only" or "all," I chose answer choice C instead, because the language was softer, yet still maintained the point. When questions are interpreted or implied I need to look for stronger language? Thank you, Amanda

I think this video will answer your question; let me know if you need more help after viewing it!

Since neither Joshua nor Ashley make any claim about which words are (or aren't) useful, we don't have evidence from the passage to support (B).

Joshua doesn't make any claim at all about words that are or aren't useful, so we don't have evidence to support (D).

I took an SvN approach based on the assumption that "unless they refer to an object words are meaningless": M --> R ; which leads to (a) but rules-out (c). Is this ok or did I read go too far in analysis ?
