Dave,
I struggled in seeing the difference between a and e here. E seemed right to me because I thought it was saying you can't conclude that a lot of old people are reflective of all old people.
I also considered A , but dismissed because I thought that it was somewhat irrelevant if those surveyed would have shared financial info in the past.
In short, it seemed like E actively dealt with the flaw whereas A looked to change the past. Hope that's not too confusing, but any thoughts on this are helpful.

(E) is out because this argument makes no conclusion about all the individuals in a group—it only concludes that in general people change as they age.
