can you explain why B is wrong? Is it because of the "some" in there? Otherwise it seems to be saying the same thing...

Yes, you've got it! Knowing only that there are some drugs that are poorly understood does little to help our argument. Notice the difference in tone and precision in (A)—that's the kind of powerful answer we want!
The language cues really help!

Yes! "Generally" means the same thing as "usually".
