I hope I can remember Pete's and ethically harvested Colombian coffee on the test day.Thank you for the link!!

It's precisely the opposite of what we need (not common for a Necessary Assumption answer, but notice that this mirrors the anticipated wrong strengthen response to a Weaken question!).
We must know that they do not molt less frequently as they age (if they did, then our argument would be stupid—there'd be no way for the rings to tell us how old they are!).

I ended up spending way to much time trying to figure out this question. After listening to your explanation I understand now why A is incorrect but is there a faster way in getting a question like this done?

Yes; this is a strong case for using your knowledge of language cues!

I think your negate test would serve you well here—say that all rattles are not identical. What effect would that have on the argument?
That it has none is perhaps the clearest indicator that (B) is not necessary here.

I thought this question was a sufficient assumption question due to the words "properly drawn". How did you know it was a necessary assumption question?

We know it's a Necessary Assumption because the question has asked us for "an assumption the argument requires." (emphasis added)

This was the fastest answer I have gotten so far. I chose (a) quickly and laughed at the other answers... the joke is on me. Thanks for the explanation Dave. I definitely see why I fell right into the trap.

Yeah, the test writers are THE WORST.
We've all fallen for their evil traps now and then. Hang in there; it bets better with time and practice!
