Pages 46-47, Questions 20 and 23

Question 20 - I selected answer choice A, identifying the first line in the first paragraph as my evidence. I was overall not very confident in this answer though, as the evidence seemed shaky. Just to clarify, is answer C justified by the first line in the very last paragraph, or did I miss it?

Question 23 - I selected answer choice A, assuming that said authoritarian rulers would desire to hold onto power as long as they could. Upon review, it seems like this might be the complete opposite of what could be inferred, as the three pressures are what causes the change. For some reason, I took "pressures" to be pressure from advisors, which is obviously way too large of an assumption. Can someone point out to me where answer choice D comes from though? Is it the end of the first paragraph?

Hey, there,

I've answered your question in this week's mailbag. Today's mailbag is recording number TWENTY-EIGHT

You'll notice that there are vertical lines running through the playback bar; each line represents a section break, so you can quickly jump to your question if you'd like (although you may have to wait for the entire video to load in order to navigate within playback).

Here's a list of each of the questions I covered today in each section of video:

SECTION ONE
-more on placeholders
-Games Page 108 Q 2

SECTION TWO
-using prior work
-Games Page 32 Q 3

SECTION THREE
-a million RC questions

SECTION FOUR + FIVE
-Games Page 143

SECTION SIX
-Games Page 168

SECTION SEVEN
-RC Page 45 Q 18

SECTION EIGHT
-LR Page 73 Q 5

Dave (or anyone), what did you have bracketed in this passage as the main point? I feel like I may have missed it, which could explain my confusion on these two questions?

I have line 7 ("Three major types...").

The next few paragraphs list those types, and the final paragraph reiterates the beginning of the passage. Does that help?

That's exactly what I had. I had a sort of branch going down with Items 1, 2, and 3 from that initial thesis noted, as well as the examples and definitions of each. I think I understood the passage structurally, I guess I just missed the cues towards the authors attitude on the subject.

Yeah; that load-bearing language can just be crucial. What's nice is that seeing it now, you'll be readier next time.
