Mail Bag Videos

For some reason my POS computer has difficulties playing the MailBag videos, especially the very long ones (some don't load for 2 full days, and if something happens, or the browser/desktop freezes before they're completed and I've viewed them, I have to start the process all over again. I've noticed similar problems with trying to access the live-video conferences and some random videos lessons, but I can usually set about 15-20 separate videos to load the night before I'm planning on completing them, and it works out O-K; but never great. (I suspect it could also be from the sad DSL connection I currently have - I never have this issue when accessing videos from my college's campus internet & desktops).

ANYWAYS, long-story short, I was wondering if you offered any of these videos on DVD's with playback in a normal CD/DVD drive so that I could avoid the problem of downloading them all-together. I would be willing to cover S&H expenses (especially because I would need them overnighted/express shipping because I'm taking the LSAT Dec 1!)

p.s. Do you utilize any Instant Messenger clients? And if not, have you considered it, if even just during "office hours" or whatever time you have designated to such tasks? The main reason I ask is that even with my shitty near-dial-up internet speeds, text-message clients such as AIM or FacebookChat are still very responsive on my home desktop and cell-phone 3g.

Also with Mailbag videos , I forgot to mention that trying to navigate BACKWARDS inside of them (after fully loaded) causes the entire video to re-load. Thus, I am only able to watch thru each mailbag one time unless I want to re-wait for it to download for a 2nd go-round. Hope I made sense :-p It's kind of hard to explain without being able to just show you.

Two things:

1. I think I understand what you're saying (I agree, Blackboard is not ideal!) I'm very excited about the replacement functionality coming to our site!

2. The difficulty you're having explaining the problem is precisely indicative of a major reason I've never offered help via a chat function ("It's kind of hard to explain without being able to just show you.")

See what I mean?

Sorry that you've been having trouble with Blackboard. I've never been crazy about it, either, and the good news (too late for you, I'm afraid) is that we're moving to a proprietary system for recording Mailbag sessions and holding Office Hours completely within the Velocity ecosystem. Tech Team Go! is working on that solution right now, and we should have it up for use within a week or two.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Blackboard recordings available in any format other than their native Blackboard configuration (I'm no expert, but that doesn't even appear possible to me. For example, there is no possible way for me to delete any of my own recordings - I've confirmed this puzzling, frustrating fact with Blackboard).

I do not use any chat clients - I'm very confident that the new Office Hours system will render them obsolete!
