Was confused about how knowing they were psychology students was any different in knowing them not having medical backgrounds?

There's not too much practical difference for us between those two facts, though it's certainly true that even if none of the people had medical backgrounds (though not what (C) says), it's still possible that you have a representative sample in a way that's not possible if they're all young students.
